Vesna Srnic

B I O G R A P H Y

Vesna Srnić was born on 17th September,1958, in Pozega, Croatia. She graduated on History of Art and Comparative Literature at Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, during 1984, elaborating «Fashion photography in Croatia during 70`s and 80˙s» (mentor phd. Zvonko Makovic). She postgraduated in 1993 on «Film Theory» with theses on video-art: «Video at the source of Image» (mentor phd. Ante Peterlic). She had prepared some theses of that work in Canada during her private stay and she achieved creative contacts with artists and galleries. During that personal education in Canada she enriched interest for multimedia and cybernetics.

She worked as an art teacher in 10 Secondary and Primary schools during 5 years (from 1985 to 1990), then she started teaching english language till 2003.

She is preparing her doctoral theses "Technology and Visual Communications: Multimedia Art" (enlarged Existential supportings in Art via Technology empower and master ourselves). Special aspect of the theses is the future of the Film and new media, especially in postfeminism.

Vesna Srnić is an editor of the electronic magazine (e-zine) for Ecology and Art in Croatia (EkoMAR), and an editor of the only european "online classroom" for art and ecology during "Europe-at-school" competition ( skola-mar.sbnet.hr/wsa ). She is the author and initiator of the Internet project and performance «Art and Ecology for Planet Europe» as an online collaboration between Secondary School «Matija Antun Reljkovic» from Croatia, International school «Shawlands Academy» from Scotland and «Klaukkallan Ylaaste» from Finland (planet-europe.sbnet.hr).

Now, she is professor of Art and Literature, teaching "Media culture" at Faculty of Pedagogy and english language at Secondary school "MAR" in Slavonski Brod. She is the owner and Editor in Chief of «Media-via» electronic magazine (media-via.info) and Editor of section Arts & Culture at web portal Slavonski Brod online (SBONLINE.Net).
